In the last years the town of Roses has become a great tourist center. It is a destination chosen by many because it offers a great cultural, natural and leisure offer. It is also located just 40 km from the border with France and 150 km from the beautiful city of Barcelona.

Roses have an approximate annual population of 15.000 inhabitants that can become 90.000 during the summer. Located on the North Coast of the Gulf of Roses enjoys a wide variety of activities for all ages. From boat trips along the entire bay to parachute jumps for the bravest.

This locality is also a key point to be able to visit its surroundings full of past and art. An example is the town of Cadaqués with its fishing essence, its white houses with modernist details and the whole history that artists like Salvador Dalí left there.

A bit of History

Throughout history the town of Roses has witnessed the arrival of different cultures. The first to colonize were the Greeks during the 8th Century BC. Five Centuries later the Romans arrived and there was a great process of Romanization.

It was not until the 16th century that it began to take on importance as a commercial center given the formidable conditions of the bay.

It is for this reason that it became a fundamental military objet to defend. We can find traces of all this history in the medieval fortification of Ciutadella and the Castle of Trinitat.
